This is one of the several damselflies I photographed during my stay at my uncle’s a few months ago. It’s a male Golden dartlet, scientific name – Ischnura Aurora (although it will probably change soon) as documented on the wikipedia page. It really was a pain digging up the name from the Internet. For documentation purposes, I’ve licensed in under the creative commons attribution share alike 3.0 license. It is also available in Wikimedia commons. This damselfly is found mostly along ponds, which was the case in the backyard. One thing I will say again as I said in the dragon knight, is that these are really hard to shoot. They DO NOT like to sit still.

Thank you everyone.
@don That was just for 4 or 5 seconds.. I'm lucky I got this shot..
@Martina I tried for a way shallower DOF, but if it's not SLR, one really has to let go of some demands..
@Gattina I try to see the beauty in the ugliness if you know what I mean..
Superbly detailed, a frame that is both beautiful and amazing.

I'm glad you persisted until you got him to sit still long enough to get this fine close up. Beautiful image.

Streamlined and aerodynamic!
Awesome macro!
And great job digging up the Info
Yes, they are a pain to shoot, but I always felt they are easier to catch than Dragonflies – at least the red ones. The red ones NEVER sit still

Very nice macro!
he's a beauty, awesome colors! great composition.
Very beautiful and colorful capture of an illusive beast! I've tried a number of times with damselflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds, and had minimal luck. Like you said, they do not sit in one place long (especially with a camera moving toward them).
Superb macro shot. The details are quite impressive! Well done.
A superb shot ! Congratulations

You have captures the beautiful colours in the damselflies – and I know….they doesn't make it easy to for you….moving around all the time.
I like the composition – the beautiful line of the brown "leaf" lined up with the damselflie(sorry for my english).
Not sure about the little bright part in the middle bottom of the picture…my eyes move in that direction when I look at the picture…but that's me
