Spotted this beautiful creature right outside my uncle’s house this year, when I went to my cousin’s wedding…
My mom and dad and aunts all said it was a Kingfisher (or at least a fisher). The shape of the head didn’t sit right for a fisher, but I was expecting it to be a species of fisher nonetheless.
Searching by all descriptions failed. I tried, red crown, blue crest etc. What finally did help was “Birds of West Bengal” and there it was! A Blue Throated Barbet. And may god bless the geniuses who worked on Google’s image search.
